The whole world in the blink of an eye

Alright, quickly now:

Weekend = Awesome

Thursday, I skipped curling for the free concert. Good times, I went deaf.

Friday, I curled in the afternoon with work and then went on an impromptu pub crawl. Half a dozen bars over the course of the night, by the time the clock struck 1, I was in a cab home. But I did start at 5, so it evens out. One of the guys I was with was a magician. No really, he does magic tricks for a living. Unfucking believeable, I drank a large amount. Saw Seti Alpha play at the North End Pub (I think), they sound like Bright Eyes

Saturday, woke up and worked in the garden. Yeah, we have a garden now. Then went to Reflections for Slowcoaster and Sloan. Another night full of booze and fog. Slowcoaster was decent. Sloan rocked the socks off of me. Best live music performance I’ve ever seen (granted my sample size is dismally small). Not sure when we got home, but damn the atmosphere in Reflections flips quickly once the bands are done.

Sunday, did nothing until Murf suggested hitting up the red carpet. Went down, in the cold, made fun of the musicians, the cars, the whole kit and kaboodle. If I was going to the Junos, I’d go in the Harbour Hopper and come from Dartmouth. There were actually people being dropped off by Yellow Cab. It makes me laugh that a lot of the people, at least those who were standing around me were all relatively apathetic about the Junos and the glitz. I laughed when I heard what Broken Social Scene said about the Canadian Idols. It’s so true.

Monday, I went to the gym for the first time in three weeks. Went well. I haven’t been sleeping well, so this tired me out enough to get some sleep. Is this daylight savings time something new? How come I never went through this last year?

Oh and I called again about getting an apartment in the Smitty’s building to no avail. Maybe I should expand my search to include more then one building.

At Hockey’s Future, we’re in the midst of releasing the Organizational Rankings, which rates prospect depth of all the teams in the NHL. I chaired the committee and so far the rankings are well received. I had super problems with the committee, so it’s good to see that the final product was worth my time.
As a result, I’ll be a guest on Hockey’s Future Radio next Sunday. Go me.

Finally, this is an open invitation for anyone who sees these words.
Frank McCourt, the author of Angela’s Ashes, Tis and Teacher Man will be reading at the McInnes Room at Dal on June 7th. Tickets are for sale at Frog Hollow Books, they’re $12.
I am going regardless, but I know some of you know what good writing is and figured I would pass along the invite.

Also second invitation to anyone and everyone.
The Mooseheads have eliminated Lewiston and are now facing the Moncton Wildcats in the second round of the QMJHL playoffs. The schedule is being released tomorrow with ticket information and dates.
I want to make at least one game.

  1. I’m obviously in for the mooseheads (duh)
    Not so much into Frank McCourt. Good writing is subjective, did you forget that?
